Patch 1.23 is here...

...And according to our legendary Yoshi-P, it is the last patch before 2.0.

Official FFXIV forums, the Lodestone, released the patch notes and the list of new items can be found here and here (thanks to FFXIVinfo for the swift update and to both xenor and BolterAura on the Lodestone forums for sharing the links)

I'll also be updating... in real time as I get them... all relevant information about new quests, boss battles and Skirmish.

*** --- Edited on Saturday July 28th --- ***

Legatus Nael Van Darnus (and his second form Nael Deus Darnus) was finally defeated late tonight and I was totally impressed with our LS members waaaaay into the early hours of Sunday morning... because we pounded him into submission within 18 minutes; one of the fastest times I've seen out there.

Indeed, Imperial Legatus Nael Van Darnus of the VIIth Imperial Garlean Legion was not extended an ounce of mercy.  The crushment was absolute.  Truly exciting fight, memorable dialogue, gorgeous battle environment and spectacular cutscenes.

Pics or it didn't happen, right?  Prepare for visual overload...

The next four images are just a few of the many "victory" group pics (I think the video should even be on you tube before morning).   Set up was PLD, WHM, WHM, BRD, DRG, DRG, BLM, BLM...and we nailed it perfectly after a few tries.

Wonderful fight but what really got me thinking were the cutscenes at the end... is Nael really dead?  Seems to me that he got "absorbed" by Dalamud.   Hmmmm...

BTW, I did like the pysho's transition into his "Nael Deus Darnus" form... epic.  People have asked me what exactly I like about Van darnus (aprt from that elegant armour) and I shall be succinct:  He's got style, eloquence, charisma and I like the concept that SE built around him.

With his defeat, the Garlean Emperor Solus Zos Galvus, now has an absolute excuse to  march on Eorzea and he will send nobody else but his most illustrious general, the "Black Wolf" Legatus Gaius Van Baelsar.  Our "murder" of Imperial General Nael Van Darnus...  (whether he was insanely psychotic or not)... won't go unpunished.  But in the meantime, here are a few pics of his transformation into his Deus mode (god-mode)...

Anywayz, good ol' Cid came to fetch us after everything was all said and done... noble, sterling lad innhe?

Anyway, Congrats again to all members of the LS and be sure to keep trying if you have progressed to this final fight in the storyline.  The fight is actually quite simple once everyone understands where to stand, what to do, how to target the meteors and how to be swift on their feet.

Voice chat is also HIGHLY recommended (we use RaidCall but as you know,  a couple others like TeamSpeak and Ventrilo work just fine).  Until later, be well everyone!

Skirmishers... Prepare for "Skirmish" and more 2.0 news

Yeah... what it says, good people.

The great folks at the FFXIV Development camp have just posted up a new style of raid that will likely be implemented with patch 1.23.  Termed "Skirmish", the official information on the Lodestone explains that it will be a new series of exercises created by the Eorzean Alliance  tailored towards initiating military exercises against the Garlean Imperial forces.

Location of the raids will be on two islands in the Cieldalaes, which I think (if memory serves me correctly), is where the final Armourer quest was initiated.  Perhaps we hold the lighthouse there against invading mobs?

We'll see how this goes as per sustaining people with end-game content... so far, I've been having fun with Hamlet Defense and it would be great to have something touse as a change of pace while waiting for 2.0.

What really interested me however, were the new set of possible weapon rewards from this new raid...

Looks good, but like everyone else Im anticipating what kind of stats these toys will have... we shall see.    Gotta feeling this will pan out to run similar to the FFXI's Dynamis, Abyssea or Einherjah and like I said, this should keep us very occupied until 2.0.

Speaking of 2.0, just this past weekend, the legendary Yoshi-P had some interesting stuff to show at the Japn Expo.   FFWorld  were the first that I found online with some spiffy new images of 2.0.

***BTW all credit for the images also go to www.ffworld.com ***

Ahhhh, but there's more... also found out someone was gracious enough to record Yoshi-P's presentation and share it on YouTube.  Much appreciated Bob1361.

As always, some interesting new stuff, ehhh?  Anywayz, until laterz, be well everyone.
