FFXIV: Shadowbringers Wins Excellence in Multiplayer | 2020 SXSW Gaming Awards
Yes indeed ladies and gentlemen and hope you are all remaining healthily safe across the globe as we all participate in the lockdowns in most regions of the world.
On a more lighter note, FFXIV has just received a new award (HERE) and huge congratulations are in order. Below is the appreciation video from Yoshi.... brilliant stuff, innit?
In addition, I thought I'd make a small list of the slightly humourous FFXIV head canons that I've been thinking up over the years:
- Godbert and Julyan are the final bosses of the FFXIV universe-- and their vast wealth makes them the first verified Trillionaires
- Rowena is second to them on the Trillionaires list-- and Gerolt wants to keep helping her get richer so that one day he can remarry her, file for divorce (again?), then claim half. Either that or both of them have always been in cahoot and have been laughing at all our backs for ages-- plus, Drake is their secret son. Aaah yes-- Gerolt is also actually both Rhalgr and Bygrot-- just depends on how drunk he is.
- Gaius, the six Coco brothers and three Ascians were all in a band-- they went touring in masked disguise for years. Gaius can play the guitars, drums and the sax-- when the three Ascians demanded extra royalties and that he stop making them look bad on stage, he permanently hushed them up-- then kept their masks as souvenirs.
- Aymeric likes getting impossibly drunk with me every time I visit Ishgard and he makes it a point to puke on House Dzemael's doorsteps afterwards-- you see, they've recently developed a habit of constantly annoying him in the new House of Lords. It's also why he took away all their construction contracts and gave them to House Haillenarte.
- By the way, Aymeric is still clueless about Lucia's advances so she continues to ship several of his fangirls off to Ghimlyt-- as a former elite operative, she's brilliant at eliminating the competition
- Hydaelyn and Zodiark are petulant twin siblings who started this whole silly business all because of a disagreement about which anime to watch-- we really should be worrying about how messed up things will really get when their parents return from vacation.
- Which begs the question-- any correlation between Hydaelyn + Zodiark's parents and the two "individuals" referred to in item number one of this list? What does that make Hildy?
- Cid and Nero are absolutely besotted with one another-- the intellectual innovations from their union amasses them enough wealth to place third on the Trillionaires list. They are also the true inventors of Omega-- they went back in time, built an AI they couldn't control, then came back to the present hoping nobody will notice their screw up.
- Other shippings happening are Hein + Cirina; Magnai + Sadu; Tataru + Wedge; Aldis + Mylla; Rhoswen + Carvallain-- by the way, anyone notice how recently Pipin becomes very flustered every time the Sultana passes nearby?
- Speaking of relationships-- Zenos is just obsessively enamoured with us because even after he tried to impress by turning into Shinryu, we still didn't give him the hug he always wanted-- a simple hug. He still doesn't understand that we can't stand him because of his insanely excessive sweet tooth.
- While we're on the matter of Zenos, I reckon he has a very formidable sister who has been backpacking through Hydaelyn--and while passing through Dalmasca, she become secret besties with Fran and Ashe. Rumour holds that they want to start a Sisterhood but need a fourth member.
- Kan-E-Senna likes to wear multi-coloured stockings which have now become the fashion rage of Gridania-- however, her two siblings vehemently disapprove.
- Not to be outdone, the illustrious Admiral Merlwyb has also fitted the entire insides of her coat with multi-coloured velvet-- and then took it a step further by commissioning the embroidery of her beloved destrier chocobo Vicky on all her gloves. Her approval rating has now rocketed to 98% amoung the Limsa populace.
- Raubhan truly and absolutely LOVES karaoke-- and has a surprisingly great voice.
- Also not to be outdone, Hien has now tried to take up karaoke as well-- nobody has the galls to tell him his singing voice is horrible. However, he's incredibly unbeatable at Mahjong, Lord of Verminion, and Triple Triad-- remember that he once had a lot of time on his hands.
- Emet dyed his hair electric blue way too many times just so he could stand out amoungst the Convocation-- his trademark white lock is as a result of the persistent over-dying.
- That chocobo carriage man from opening cutscene for 1.0 or 2.0 Ul'Dah? He's definitely alive and has already figured out how to transverse between all the fourteen shards -- go look at the intro cutscenes for Shadowbringers, he's right there...again. I reckon the Exarch is slacking and needs to have a chat with him-- could learn a thing or two.
Still working up the patience to post the remaining seventy odd head canons swirling in my mind. In the meantime, I'll also post up some of my latest screen shots to celebrate this latest award to FFXIV.
Be well everyone and until next time, happy gaming!
