The Resonance of Eorzea

Yep... "Lieutenant" Atreides reporting for duty.

Has a nice spiffy ring to it, innit?

Also in a jovial mood because this is my 100th post on my blog... so I guess I can do some centennial celebration of some sort, yes?  Been a little busy playing online so I haven't updated the blog in a few days... but I have been playing a lot lately, so its been great fun seeing some friends again.

However, Yoshi-P and the FFXIV development team released patch 1.22c on June 20th which brought quite a few more items and the implementation of the officer level of Grand Company rankings.  Most of the new items are weaponry (also for officer level) and a list of how they could look are already on Mooglebox.

The new officer's uniform looks something like this...

I'll post up better shots later on once I get amoment.  The quest to obtain the rank of Storm Lieutenant is quite straight forward but the only catch is that you need to complete certain conditions (as stipulated below by the patch notes)

  • Adventurers must fulfill the following requirements if they wish to rise from Chief Sergeant to Second Lieutenant:
    1. Complete one of the following Grand Company quests:

      Grand CompanyQuest Title
      MaelstromPatrol, Interrupted
Order of the Twin AdderCure for the Common Pox
Immortal FlamesMess with the Goat, Get the Horns
    2. Complete one of the three “United We Stand” quests.
    3. Pay 25,000 company seals.
      * Depending on your Grand Company, you will receive either the Aquamarine Cross, the Emerald Bough, or the Platinum Scales in commemoration of your promotion.

  • Yeah... 25,000 seals.  That's also the price tag for each of the new officer level weapons.  Below is one of the weapons that I could currently afford, the Storm Lieutenant's Trident (arguably the most powerful Dragoon weaponry after the Gae Bolg)...

...found out it matches very sharply with the Gryphonskin gear and Silver Tricorne pirate hat...

Speaking of which, please note that the Notorious Monster to fight for the officer promotion quest "Patrol, Interrupted" is this bloke (the Great Buffalo).  And yes, he bloody pissed because I blatantly said colourful, taunting words regarding his beard, his horns... you get the idea...

The irony about this new patch is the fact that now every single spot for the higher level caravan escort missions are just packed with players... heck, even I have literally been logging out at camp skull valley for the last 2 days.

Prior to this, caravan missions were not very regular unless one had a static or linkshell that had other like-minded players trying to get their seals.  But now?  I guess its safe to tentatively say that the caravan escort runs have now become the new Ifrit/Moogle.

Anyway, hope you all have fun out there doing runs... well, it will be fun and less boring if you're completing repeated runs with your friends.

And for those of you who are bored and cannot stand another minute of mind-numbing caravan runs, I leave you with some random in-game pictures from my vast album (in celebration of making one hundred post of FFXIV "drudgery")...

    First up, Limsa at dawn...

Gotta love the cherry blossoms whenever they arrive...

And here's Limsa again at dusk...

And here be the powerbrokers of Limsa. Say something stupid and I promise you that our awesome Admiral Merlwyb will open fire with her dual badness muskets... (these treasures truly exist cuz I saw 'em myself)...

And that's her in the background wearing black on black...

Of course, next is Gridania...my adopted home and the land of "Green" sustainability.  By the way, they also have some treasures of there own, like this mythical looking set of bows in the Archery Guild...

Here's Ul'Dah, our sandbox...*Ahem*..."jewel" in the desert.   Speaking of jewels, they have some treasures of their own in the Miner's Guild...

By the way, the illustrious Raubahn Aldyn  is the powerbroker here...

And Ishgard, the most photographed landmark in Eorzean history...(emphasis on the word "landmark", since none of us have ventured past its gates)...

Weird how these images kinda make me feel a little poignant because ol'Dalamud might soon make a landing...

...which still poses the question that everyone is obviously asking:  how much of our present Eorzea will still exist in 2.0?  Guess we'll soon find out.  Until later, be well everyone.
